The Hosparus Education and Volunteer Center educates our hospice staff, area clinicians and members of our community about end-of-life care. Through our network of education and research, we seek to relieve pain, provide comfort and enhance quality of life for those experiencing life-limiting illness or significant loss.
Continuing education. We offer continuing education credits on end-of-life care for area hospitals, long-term care facilities, health care agencies and other groups. Hospice training is available for the following licensed or board-certified professions:
- Nurse practitioners.
- Registered nurses.
- Licensed practical nurses.
- Certified nursing assistants.
- Social workers.
- Chaplains.
- Nursing home administrators.
- Counselors.
- Marriage and family therapists.

Conferences and education. Hosparus provides conferences and educational series, both independently and collaboratively with various universities and health care organizations/agencies.
Speakers bureau. Our speakers bureau sends informed Hosparus speakers to civic organizations, faith communities and health care organizations. You can contact the Hosparus speakers bureau by email or call us at (502) 719-8910.
Internships for college students. The Hosparus Education and Volunteer Center fosters collaborative relationships with area universities and colleges. Students complete internships, practicum studies and coursework within a wide spectrum of academic activities. Students often shadow our clinicians to experience and learn directly from our hospice models of care. Such disciplines include:
- Medicine.
- Nursing.
- Social work.
- Counseling.
- Pastoral care.
- Music therapy.
Resource library. Our resource library houses information about end-of-life care and bereavement resources including books, professional journals, and multi-media resources. Search here for library resources.
