Home care

We offer compassionate care to patients and families struggling to cope with life-limiting illnesses. People often believe they have nowhere to turn. That's where we can help. With our support, often patients are able to spend their final days at home surrounded by their loved ones.

Comfort vs. cure

Hosparus affirms life and promotes quality of life through all phases of an illness. Our care provides comfort rather than cure. Hospice care by Hosparus neither prolongs life nor hastens death. We provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to persons with life-limiting illness and their families. We help our patients maintain quality of life and live their days to the fullest. We emphasize symptom management and palliative care and support for the entire family.

Respect and empowerment

Team of three with patient. Hosparus takes an interdisciplinary team approach to hospice care.

Our team includes the patient. Hosparus takes an interdisciplinary team approach to hospice care.

The end of life is a special time with special needs. We understand the emotions surrounding a progressive illness and can help put them in perspective. Fear, anger, and grief are normal responses. We respect each person’s living and dying experiences. We enter into these experiences with our patients and families, providing support, understanding, and when desired, guidance. We empower patients and families through this most significant time. A team of sensitive, skilled professionals and volunteers tailors its services to meet the needs of each individual patient and family.

Hosparus supports the rights of patient/families to make decisions about life support and life sustaining medical interventions. While respecting personal philosophical beliefs, Hosparus does not participate or assist in implementation of any actions related to suicide and/or euthanasia.

The Hosparus team

Each patient and family receives individualized care from an interdisciplinary team that includes a bereavement counselor, certified nursing assistant, chaplain, registered nurse, social worker, volunteer and other therapists as desired. The patient's physician also is part of the team. All medical care prescribed by the physician is carefully followed. Appropriate team members address additional needs. We adapt care plans with the changing needs and decisions of the patient and family. Respecting the rights, privacy and confidentiality of our patients and families are key components of our hospice philosophy and practice.
