Hosparus Education and Volunteer Center provides end-of-life education for the following professionals, and more:

  • Physicians, medical students.
  • Nurses/LPNs, certified nursing assistants, nursing students.
  • Social workers, mental health professionals and students.
  • Psychosocial professionals and licensed counselors.
  • Chaplains, ministerial groups and theology students.
  • Long-term care staff.
  • Complementary therapy professionals and students.
  • Health care vendors.

Continuing education

Hosparus offers continuing education credits on end-of-life care for area hospitals, long-term care facilities, health care agencies and other groups. Hospice training is available for the following licensed or board-certified professions:

  • Nurse practitioners.
  • Registered nurses.
  • Practical nurses.
  • Certified nursing assistants.
  • Social workers.
  • Chaplains.
  • Nursing home administrators.
  • Counselors.
  • Marriage and family therapists.

Specific categories. Here are some of the specific categories of instruction offered by Hosparus under its Hosparus Education and Volunteer Center:

Kentucky social workers: Programs that have been pre-approved by the Kentucky Board of Social work are noted specifically as offering CEU contact hours for Kentucky social workers. Other programs may be submitted by individuals for retroactive approval. Hosparus will provide a certificate of attendance upon request. See KY Statute 201 KAR23.075 for information on how to request board approval programs that are not preapproved.

Indiana social workers: The Indiana Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor Board has approved Hosparus to approve category 1 CE for LSW, LCSW, LMFT, and LMHC. However, licensees must judge the program's relevance to their professional practice. Certificates of attendance are available on request.

Kentucky nurses: Hosparus Education and Volunteer Center/Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville is an approved Kentucky Board of Nursing Provider. The Kentucky Board of Nursing approval of an individual nursing continuing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content.

Additional professional CE credits: Continuing education credits are also available for the following disciplines or organizations.

  • Nursing Home Administrators.
  • Association of Professional Chaplains.
  • Professional Licensed Counselors (KY).
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (KY).
